Practicing the Presence of God…an important focus

I decided to compile a list of diverse resources which I am going to be studying, practicing and reviewing.  I am hoping to inspire Wellspring Community to do the same.  I know we all want to experience the presence of God all the time, but I think we have not really focused on this goal as much as we could. If I choose to focus on this and can have a testimony, this will be even more compelling to my fellow communitarians.

Here is a great little bible study by the late Adrian Rogers.

This had some interesting tips that I would not have thought of using. Useful, though.

I still want to order this book, “Present Perfect: Finding God Now”, by my favorite pastor Greg Boyd.

One of my favorite sermons by Greg Boyd

I’m going to listen to this sermon by a guest speaker at Woodland Hills.  Has some hints on how to deal with the problem of having very busy lives yet still s

This looks like a good sermon by Greg Boyd focusing on Colossians called “Being Rooted in the Nows”

Staying connected even during problems…very important. Here’s Greg talking about that topic.

Steve Wiens, talks about how God always wants to bring his wholeness (Shalom) into every situation and that we, like Mary, have the opportunity to partner with God in that.

Greg talks about our value as God’s image and the role we play in this world. I remember when I used to focus on building self esteem thinking that low self esteem was the source of all problems.  Partially true, I hope to learn from this sermon how to have a different self image.

In Jesus, all things were created and are being sustained by him. Whether you think the world was created billions of years ago or 4,000 years ago, the only thing that matters is the sustaining breath of God. In this sermon, Greg tackles some of the ways in which we can view the interaction of science and faith. He also shows the beauty of a God who sustains the smallest things in this world.

We were created in God’s image, to represent Him on Earth. In ancient times, people would make statues to represent their gods, but we were commanded to represent God, not make statues. In this sermon, Greg talks about our value as God’s image and the role we play in this world.

I have  heard a lot about Frank Laubach who seems to be a modern day Brother Lawrence (he wrote the classic, “Practicing the Presence of God.”)  Here is some teaching by Frank. http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/articles/index.php?view=article&aid=28486

Here are a bunch of links to sermons and devotional writings by people who I think focused on practicing the presence of God.
